Alberto Cutié, a former Miami archdiocesan priest whose television, radio, and newspaper outreach extended to outlets as varied as Telemundo and EWTN, will host a syndicated daytime television talk show beginning on July 11. “Father Albert” will appear on six Fox television stations, including stations in New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Dallas.
Cutié, who gained the nickname “Father Oprah” during his years as a Catholic broadcaster, says that he will use the show to help people deal with their personal problems. “I think I'm able to kind of tell them, you know what, you'll be able to get over this,” he said. “That’s when I pull out that card and say I’ve been able to overcome and you will overcome it, too.”
Cutié, whose public ministry in the Church ended following the publication of compromising photographs, renounced the Catholic faith and became a minister of the Episcopal Church. He also married the divorcee with whom he was having an affair.
