Breast Cancer Earns Planned Parenthood $730,000

LifeNews reports that the Susan G. Komen foundation donated over $730K to Planned Parenthood in 2009.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has long denied that abortion plays any role in elevating the risk for women of contracting the deadly disease.

That's despite a wealth of research over decades showing an average increased risk of about 40 percent for women having abortions compared to those who carry their pregnancy to term.

But the contributions Komen affiliates make to Planned Parenthood, which does more than 25 percent of all abortions in the United States and aggressively promotes abortion abroad, provide another sources of frustration for pro-life people who otherwise would support the group.

  1. BIG THANK YOU for posting this! So many people do not want to hear this or talk about it, because of the strong emotional association to the cause. The American Cancer Society/Relay for Life also has the same issues with denying abortion's effect on cancer rates, and funding embryonic stem cell research. Most Catholics know nothing about this. Most Catholic parishes are actively involved with Relay for Life. I am not demonizing these groups, but this is information that we need to know and take into consideration before we just write a check.

  2. Vons supermarkets frequently have their checkers ask for donations to charity. These are usually umbrella drives, whereas money is collected and dispersed to varied and numerous other organizations which are rarely listed anywhere. Vons Breast Cancer drive is just such an umbrella drive, and is one of their big ones and the Komen foundation receives money from the people through Vons and their Breast Cancer drive.--- Whats really annoying about Vons is that they usually have various solicitors out in front of the store also, but Vons puts a sign out there telling us to ignore them and that they dont have permission to be there. Try ignoring the checker when you go through the line, they'll repeatedly ask you to give, and usually as a reply will tell them not to ask me twice. Its hard living in a secular or mostly godless society, cant exactly give em' a piece of my mind or thoughts. Most would not relate. I shop at Vons 2-3+ times a week and its annoying to get hit up for donations from a checker on a regualar basis, especially when these monies are being directed in a less than godly way. Seems they are running a charity drive about every other month.

As a Catholic I already have my thoroughly vetted charities. I dont give to umbrella drives/organizations where you dont know where the money is going.
