BUFFALO, NY - According to Father Joe Moreno of St. Lawrence Church, the woman suspected of stealing from a local Bingo game turned herself into police Tuesday morning.
Buffalo Police say 29-year-old Alishia Askew stole money during a Bingo game at a St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church on E. Delavan on Monday night.
The bingo worker tells 2 On Your Side, Askew broke the rules. She had Bingo when I-19 was called, but she stood up. The rules say if you have Bingo, you must remain seated. "It shouldn't happen, they need to follow the rules and not steal from the church," said Chris Blachowski.
After breaking the rules, Father Moreno says Askew stole a total of $290 from behind the Bingo counter before leaving.
Police have charged Askew with petit larceny.
