Today on "Kresta in the Afternoon" for March 12, 2012

Talking about the "things that matter most" on March 12

4:00-6:00 – Direct to My Desk: Two Hours to Call In and Talk About the Things That Matter Most
During this day of Direct to My Desk, we take your questions and comments. One area of conversation will be Iran. The USCCB has released a statement on the possibility of military action in Iran and the former chief of Mossad, Israel's intelligence agency, is voicing opposition to Israel launching preemptive strike, saying the Iranian regime is a rational one and doesn’t pose an immediate threat. We also talk about the “dream of a Catholic Center Party,” and why some academics are making the open argument FOR the legalization of infanticide.

  1. Al, I thought you were uncharitable with the last caller and actually talked over her.

  2. I DISAGREE. I FELT THAT AL TRIED TO FIND OUT THE REASON SHE HAD FOR BEING OFFENDED BUT SHE COULD NOT COME UP WITH ANYTHING, SINCE IT WAS MOSTLY AN EMOTIONAL IDEA, THAT JACK KENNEDY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN UNFAITHFUL. ALSO SHE WAS OFFENDED BY KENNEDY BEING CALLED UNFAITHFUL BUT CALLED AL AND THE INVESTIGATORS LIARS. SHE WAS UPSET THAT AL WAS UNKIND TO THE MEMORY OF KENNEDY, BUT WAS UNKIND AND CALLED PEOPLE NAMES, WITHOUT ANY OBJECTIVE REASONS.

  3. Anon, please listen to it again. When she was attempting to explain her feelings Al became angry and talked over her. She was sincere in her statements and it takes an open heart and mind to understand the language of feelings. If one is dominated by the left side of the brain which is linear and logical then it is very difficult to understand the language of emotions. That tends to be a problem for males who are left brain dominated. When you capitalize all the letters in your comments that usually indicates screaming within the realm of internet language. Is that your intent? I ask with all sincerity.

    1. No I was not screaming, just lazy, kept caps on by mistake. Sorry.

  4. This is a SIMPLE question to answer. When we committ mortal sin, it wounds and severes our connection to God. When this connection is lost, we lose our moral compass and can no longer make sound decisions in MOST parts of our lives. Cheating on your wife will bring down your ability to deal with your job, your kids, and any other situations in life that come about. Any type of mortal sin disrupts your ability to do most things properly. All a product of the fall. We are either moving closer to a life of grace and living in the light or living in the darkness. Mortal sin is not grey area but black. I have no understanding of holding the Kennedy family up on high. I hold people who overcame this world through love, prayer, and peace, as my role models, we call them saints. All I see with the Kennedy's is general disregard for the church and her teachings.
