Today on Kresta in the Afternoon - February 6, 2012

Talking about the "things that matter most" on Feb. 6

4:00 - Rep. Fortenberry: Administration tramples Americans’ conscience rights
To help allow health providers to continue to serve their communities in the face of an unprecedented attack on religious freedom, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry has authored the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act. This bipartisan piece of legislation would repeal this mandate, amending the 2010 health care law to preserve conscience rights for health care professionals, their patients, and the institutional health care providers that serve them. He joins us.

4:20 – A Catholic Interpretation of the Current Market Conditions
As America continues to assess the economy and factors in a looming election, uncertainty reigns. George Schwartz of the Ave Maria Family of Funds is here to give us his read of the markets and what we should expect over the next year.

4:40 – Legatus: Celebrating 25 Years of Ambassadorship in the Marketplace
In our time at the 25th Anniversary Legatus Summit last week, we sat down with John Hunt, Executive Director of Legatus, to discuss the history, impact, and future of the extraordinary organization of Catholic businesspeople.

5:00 – Obama, Sebelius and Religiouis Freedom in America
In an article titled “Our Rule Respects Religion,” Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius writes in today’s USA Today that “we specifically carved out from the [healthcare] policy religious organizations that primarily employ people of their own faith.” Catholic League president Bill Donohue is here to analyze the impact of and response to the HHS mandate.

5:40 – Making a Pro-Life America
Few people have as much first-hand knowledge of the history and inner-workings of the pro-life movement as Dr. Jack Wilke. He was there from the beginning and wrote what most consider to be the most read book worldwide on the issue of abortion. Jack sits down with Al to look at the current state of the movement and his read of President Obama’s attack on the Church.
