The Best of Kresta in the Afternoon
4:00 – The Transformation of the American Democratic
Republic
This stimulating volume considers
whether the Founding Fathers’ vision of the American democratic republic has
been transformed and if so, in what ways. Stephen
Krason looks to the basic principles of the Founding Fathers, then
discusses changes that resulted from evolving contemporary attitudes about and
approaches to government. He considers how contemporary law and public policy
might be reshaped in accordance with the religious principles and cultural
norms of the eighteenth century and earlier.
Stephen joins us.
5:00 – The Transformation of the American Democratic
Republic: PART TWO
Two weeks ago Stephen Krason joined us to consider whether the Founding
Fathers’ vision of the American democratic republic has been transformed and if
so, in what ways. We made it only about half-way through his very important
book so Stephen joins us again today. We look to the basic principles of the
Founding Fathers, we discuss changes that resulted from evolving contemporary
attitudes about and approaches to government, and we consider how contemporary
law and public policy might be reshaped in accordance with the religious
principles and cultural norms of the eighteenth century and earlier.
What date did the "Part Two" episode air? I would like to listen to it through the archives.
