Today on "Kresta in the Afternoon" for March 15, 2012

Talking about the "things that matter most" on March 15

4:00 – Ready to Pay for Abortion?
National Right to Life Legislative Director Doug Johnson has issued an in-depth analysis of the March 12 HHS "rule" that spells out how some of the components of the massive 2010 Obama health care law ("ObamaCare") will be implemented, specifically on abortion. You will not find a more accurate analysis. This may be as bad or worse than the "rule" on coverage of contraceptives, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs. As Nancy Pelosi said, "We have to pass it so we can find out what's in it." Now we are finding out what's in it. An assault on religious freedom and the greatest gift to the abortion industry since Roe. Doug joins us.

4:20 - The Modern Papacy
Sam Gregg joins us to look at The Modern Papacy. He focuses on the social and political thought of the previous and current Popes, John Paul II and Benedict XVI. It focuses on the development of Catholic thinking in the context of the emergence of modern capitalism, mass democracy and Communism in the twentieth century.

5:00 – Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer-a pastor and author. In his New York Times best-selling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life-the theologian and the spy-and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil. Metaxas presents the fullest accounting of Bonhoeffer's heart-wrenching decision to leave the safe haven of America to return to Hitler's Germany, and sheds new light on Bonhoeffer's involvement in the famous Valkyrie plot and in "Operation 7," the effort to smuggle Jews into neutral Switzerland. He joins us.

  1. FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act) was just a ploy to confuse on abortion. Forget about divide and conquer. The Healthcare is more of a beast than FOCA may ever have been. We always have to keep our eye on the ball that is next because it will be even more destructive than originally intended. I am FRIGHTENED for this country and my two small children.
