Harry Knox, who advises President Obama on the faith-based initiative, reaffirmed his assertion yesterday that the Pope is "hurting people in the name of Jesus" by opposing condom use to stop the spread of AIDS. This in the face of a new government report that abstinence education is more effective than "sex ed." When the reporter follows up and quotes Harvard scientist Dr. Edward C. Green who said “current empirical evidence supports” Pope Benedict’s comments on AIDS and condoms, a voice off camera just dismisses Green as "wrong." Dr. Green doesn't have a dog in this fight. He is Director of the AIDS Prevention Research Project at Harvard. To dismiss him and hammer the Pope instead is outrageous. See the video below.
