The Catholic bishops of Illinois have requested a meeting with Governor Pat Quinn, to discuss his public stand on abortion and same-sex unions.
Governor Quinn has made public a letter from the bishops, in which the prelates asked for a face-to-face session to discuss "your personal approval of laws permitting the killing of unborn children." The bishops indicated that they would like to speak with Quinn--who identifies himself as a Catholic--about his responsibilities as a public official and their own duties as Church leaders.
