4:00 – Nicholas Copernicus Turns 540: The Church and Science
Google is celebrating the 540th birthday of mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus with a live-action homepage doodle. "'The world revolves around me!' said the sun. Happy 540th to #NicolausCopernicus who created the heliocentric model," Google tweeted today. But what you probably don’t know is that he was a third order Dominican. Al talks about the fallacy of the “Catholic War on Science.”
4:20 – Analyzing the Papabili
Speculation is inevitable. And speculation is beginning to swirl about the “papabili" - likely successors to Pope Benedict XVI. In recent years those who were elected pope even though they were not considered papabili include John XXIII, John Paul I, and John Paul II. There is a wry saying among Vaticanologists: "He who enters the conclave as Pope, leaves it as a cardinal.” We talk to Fr. Peter Stravinskas about those being discussed.
4:40 – Carhart patient dead from horrific 33-week abortion injuries
29-year old Jennifer McKenna Morbelli died last week as the result of fatal complications suffered during an abortion at 33 weeks performed by notorious late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart at Germantown Reproductive Health Center in Germantown, Maryland. Jennifer came for a third trimester abortion from out-of-state. Following the abortion she began suffering chest pains and other discomforting symptoms. Her attempts to reach Carhart were unsuccessful. She was taken by her family from her hotel to a nearby hospital emergency room where she suffered massive internal bleeding into her abdominal cavity and died. Fr. Marcel Guarnizo has prayed in front of that very clinic and is here to discuss this tragedy.

5:40 – Examining Dark Matter and the God Particle As Catholics
Big news in the search for dark matter may be coming in about two weeks, the leader of a space-based particle physics experiment said today. That's when the first paper of results from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, a particle collector mounted on the outside of the International Space Station, will be submitted to a scientific journal. We get an explanation from Fr. Robert Spitzer.
Great topics all around today.
ReplyDeleteThe Fr. Marcel Guarnizo Interview
ReplyDeleteAl,
After the interview with Fr. Marcel Guarnizo you expressed hope that the Jennifer Morbelli story would seize the imagination of the public and perhaps a fair minded journalist. I don't know if that will happen, but the story sure seized my imagination.
[WARNING: My imagination may be offensive to some people.]
Jennifer McKenna Morbelli, a Catholic, wanted to kill her 33 week old unborn baby because the baby had developed "abnormalities." She didn't know how to do it by herself, so she sought out a contract killer who would do it for her. She found a contract baby killer -- mass murderer LeRoy Carhart.
Morbelli really wanted that baby killed. She traveled from New York to Maryland to hire baby killer Carhart to do the deed. Carhart took Morbelli's money and performed the task she set out for him -- he murdered her baby.
Then DIvine Providence intervened. Divine Providence imposed His judgement on Jennifer McKenna Morbelli.
