4:00 – City of Steubenville Removes Franciscan University Chapel Image From City Seal
Faced with the threat of an expensive lawsuit from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, Inc., a Madison, Wisconsin-based atheist group, the Steubenville City Council announced July 24 its intention to remove the image of the Franciscan University of Steubenville's chapel from the official city logo. The new logo was unveiled in December 2011. We talk to Michael Hernon at Franciscan University.
4:20 – Remembering Catholic Psychiatrist Conrad Baars
It has been 40 years since Catholic psychiatrist Conrad Baars joined with Anna Terruwe to release the book The Role of the Church in the Causation, Treatment and Prevention of the Crisis in the Priesthood. A synthesis of ideas which they had presented to the 1970 Synod of Catholic Bishops, the book described what is today termed emotional deprivation disorder and warned that priests and religious with emotional repression and love deprivation could lead to disaster in the Church. Champions of Baars’ beliefs included Pope Paul VI. The psychiatrist’s daughter, Dr. Sue Baars, is a therapist at In His Image Christian Counseling Service in Irving, Texas, and continues to keep his legacy alive. She speaks with us about her father and his work.

5:00 – Has Religious Liberty Died? HHS Mandate Goes Into Effect Today for Some Most Religious and Secular Entities
Last night, on the eve of its religious-liberty-crushing mandate taking effect, President Obama's Health and Human Services Department (HHS) made an outrageous claim: “The Obama administration will continue to work with all employers to give them the flexibility and resources they need to implement the health care law in a way that protects women's health while making common-sense accommodations for values like religious liberty.” Religious liberty is a fundamental right guaranteed under the First Amendment of the Constitution, not a mere "value" whose worth is subject to devaluation by any given Administration's policy. The anti-conscience HHS mandate is now in effect. So what exactly happens starting today? We talk to Sarah Torre about this very question.
5:20 – Answering Those Who Quote Biblical Passages to Support Homosexuality
Was Jesus Homosexual? Some Say "Yes" and Try to Prove it from the Bible? Steve Ray is here to argue that it seems pretty clear that if one reads Scripture in context and one understands the life and moral teaching of Christ in context, and his words in Revelation, there is no possibility of concluding Jesus condoned or approved of homosexual conduct.

ReplyDeleteFor what it is worth, Chick-fil-A Oakland University 2200 N Squirrel Rd Rochester, MI 48309 is closed for the summer, which I found out the hard way today. Made one new contact who is against HHS, et al from this adminstration. Still, I learned I was not the only one who arrived here. (Wish I had gone to the Toledo Chick-fil-A.) --Richard Marquis
ReplyDeleteRe: Dan Cathy
ReplyDelete"God's Judgment" is a euphemism for Divine Terrorism; God inflicts pain and misery on bad people. But His judgment does not discriminate. The victims include innocent people and animals.
His judgment comes in many forms: floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, plagues. The Divine Terrorist has quite an imagination.
Welcome to the wacky world of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and Dan Cathy.
