4:20 - Blue Collar Intellectuals: When the Enlightened and the Everyman Elevated America
Popular culture has divorced itself from the life of the mind. Who has time for great books or deep thought when there is Jersey Shore to watch, a txt 2 respond 2, and World of Warcraft to play? At the same time, those who pursue the life of the mind have insulated themselves from popular culture. Speaking in insider jargon and writing unread books, intellectuals have locked themselves away in a ghetto of their own creation. Daniel Flynn is here to show us how much everyone intellectual and everyman alike has suffered from mass culture's crowding out of higher things and the elite's failure to engage the masses.
4:40 – Susan G. Komen Reverses Course and Will Continue to Fund Planned Parenthood
The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation backed down from its decision to cut funding for America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. It’s the latest twist in a bizarre two day fiasco over the issue. Teresa Tomeo joins us to sort out the details.
5:00 - In the Beginning: A Theology of the Body
One of the most significant contributions of Pope John Paul II to the church, and arguably to the culture, was his development of a theology of the body. This theology explores the rich meaning and vocation of human embodiment, of the body-person, in light of the fundamental truths of creation, fall into sin, and redemption in Jesus Christ. Eduardo Echeverria is here to inquire into the biblical, theological, and philosophical foundations of the Pope's theology of the body. In a wide-ranging discussion of a Catholic theology of revelation, biblical hermeneutics, and a biblical perspective on the Christ-centered dynamics of the moral life, Echeverria clearly establishes the fundamental principles needed for a full understanding of John Paul II's thought.
Of course Kommen changed course. The ONLY reason they did this in the first place was because their by laws state they cannot contribute to an organization under investigation. If you read the initial article closely, they never stopped the contributions because of any other reason. Kommen is pro-abortion and radical feminist. Always have been.
