Thanks to LifeNews and the Catholic Key Blog for this story
Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, the organization that deceived Catholics across the country in 2008 into thinking presidential candidate Barack Obama was not pro-abortion, appears to have folded. CACG was so far afield from Catholic teaching that at least one Catholic bishop condemned the group.
Jack Smith of the Catholic Key blog has posted dozens of updates "on the background and doings of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good over the last couple years, but this may be the last."
"It appears they are out of business," Smith says.
He points out that CACG has had no blog posts on its blog since June 10, and had not sent anything from its Facebook or Twitter account since mid May. The calendar pages and staff bio page on its web site is blank and the media staffer CACG hired now works for Faith in Public Life.
"But why rely on circumstantial evidence? I decided to just give them a call," Smith said, finding the phone number disconnected.
"I've long asserted that CACG was a campaign organization and not a non-partisan advocate of Catholic Social Teaching as many news outfits have gullibly or willfully maintained. With the president elected and health care passed, it looks, for now, like the campaign is over," Smith said.
Tom McClusky of the Family Research Council also noted the lack of activity at the so-called Catholic political group.
"After spending millions of George Soros’ money in promoting pro-abortion health care (including sponsoring a phone call starring President Obama who called FRC “deceivers” on the call”) and in trying to diminish abortion as an issue for American Catholics it appears the false Catholic group has closed up shop," he said.
If that is the case, McClusky says it confirms what pro-life advocates said about CACG, "confirming to many that it was a George Soros vehicle meant to confuse and divide the Catholic vote in favor to benefit pro-abortion President Obama."
The pro-life advocate says two of the founders of the organization include Alexia Kelley, who now runs the faith based office at Health and Human Services, and Tom Perriello, the congressman from Virginia.
McClusky says Perriello "is in the race for his life because of his numerous bad votes that seem to favor George Soros’ agenda as opposed to the people in his district, including votes for the pro-abortion Obamacare."
Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good released a pre-election voter guide that incorrectly suggested support for pro-abortion politicians can be justified.
CACG defended Notre Dame for allowing Obama to speak, issued a study that misled on abortion laws and the results of them, covered for the abortion funding in the national health care bill, and its director called pro-life advocates "culture warriors."
