Catholic members of the university community are also called to a personal fidelity to the Church with all that this implies. Non-Catholic members are required to respect the Catholic character of the University, while the University in turn respects their religious liberty ”.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7708139263643046536.post-34141041926896700512010-09-22T21:08:19.615-04:002010-09-22T21:08:19.615-04:00This is good news. Unfortunately, Rice is correct in his assertion that much of what happens at Notre Dame is facade - a salve for the orthodox Catholics who lament the terrible path Notre Dame leads toward a secular self-identity. I hope this represents more than a facade. But with the news of Kirk's inexplicable firing (see article in the Irish Rover by Professor Solomon) and the sustained prosecution of the ND88 and the pro-homosexual decisions of the Administration, I remain skeptical.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7708139263643046536.post-20719624246854715292010-09-22T14:06:03.566-04:002010-09-22T14:06:03.566-04:00I agree with Rice. I guess the upside of Notre Dam...I agree with Rice. I guess the upside of Notre Dame's horrible act in bringing in Obama, with his shameful, ugly pro-abortion voting record (that's right, it's not how we FEEL about a candidate...it's their VOTING RECORD we should look at) is that it is being forced to choose between not standing up for life, and downright negligence and (imnho) malfeasance in that arena--being a cause of scandal to the Church and a bad witness to the faith--and becoming active in standing up for life. I'm glad to hear Fr. Jensen went to the March for Life. I was actually wondering where he stood. Sounds like he's had some pretty misguided sensibilities previously.Mary Cracraftnoreply@blogger.com
